Robert “Rob” Currie, Research In Motion, VP Emerging Technology
Research In Motion Limited (RIM) is a designer, manufacturer and marketer of wireless solutions for the worldwide mobile communications market. Through the development of integrated hardware, software and services that support multiple wireless network standards, RIM provides platforms and solutions for seamless access to time-sensitive information including email, phone, short message service (SMS) messaging, Internet and intranet-based applications.
Topic– Broadband in Santa Cruz County:
Chris Neklason, Co-Owner and CTO of Cruzio
Cruzio is one of the first ISPs in the US, starting in 1989. Chris will discuss the current state of broadband in Santa Cruz County and what Cruzio is up to in the soon to be reopened Sentinel building in downtown Santa Cruz. Cruzio has over 9,000 customers. They are focused mainly in Santa Cruz County and are expanding their service offerings to include high speed wireless (through the purchase of Gatespeed Broadband in November 2009), enterprise fiber (bringing 10gig fiber from Sunnyvale) and colo and coworking in the new building.

Sibley Verbeck, Founder Electric Sheep Company
Electric Sheep Company is an Emmy award-winning creator of virtual worlds and social games for major brands and media companies. Sibley Verbeck is founder of The Electric Sheep Company and is responsible for overall company strategy. Currently, Sibley is leading the business development for the company’s new product, StreamJam, a free app for putting live music events online in a virtual environment.
