As a guest curator for the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History and the Santa Cruz Design + Innovation Center, I oversaw the exhibit on bicycle design in conjunction with the 2009 Amgen Bike Tour of California. Later that year, I worked with Studio Cruz to coordinate “Praise the Board”, an exhibit on Santa Cruz-based skateboard design and innovation. This exhibit was widely recognized and set a new record for attendance at the opening.
Since then, I have managed events for the E.C. Rittenhouse Building and numerous local businesses. I am active in the Santa Cruz art and design community and have worked extensively with many established artists including, Roy Johnson, Coeleen Kiebert, Mattie Leeds and Helen Slater. Coeleen Kiebert has had a major role in my life as a teacher and has inspired me to teach workshops on the Creative Process
The other half of my life is dedicated to the YoungLove Design Collective. YLC is a group of women that love to design new and interesting pieces, from jewelery to wearables and ceramics. We are conscious of the materials we use, utilizing natural, recycled or other high quality ingredients for our designs. Our next fashion show will be in Santa Cruz on July 10th, 2010.
